Because many of the MFAs scatter when classes are over–returning to their corners of the continent so that they can fill up on family time which will hopefully inspire some interesting stories come spring–we had two Locutions in quick succession in anticipation of the coming holidays. As always, Pulpfiction Books on Main Street were our kind hosts.
The first, on November 18, featured Kevin Baker, author of the City of Fire trilogy which brings to life the underbelly of New York history. Student readers include 2nd year dramatist Michelle Deines (and a cast of MFA players), resident fiery redhead 2-year Anna Maximiw, first year ingenue Allison Mills, and Optional Residency representative Jessica Michalofsky.
The second, on December 2, featured MFA alumnus Sarah Leavitt, award-winning author of the graphic memoir Tangles, which chronicles her mother’s struggle with Alzheimers disease. Student readers were first year breakouts Erin Flegg and Ajay Mehra, second year star Chelsea Rooney and Optional Residency special guest, Trevor Corkum
